Music for kids that's not kids' music. Novel concept, huh? Let's try to listen to some music together as a family that does not make us parents want to stick icepicks in our ears. We are convinced that we will not be depriving our children of anything if we keep the Barneys and the Wee Sings and the Music for Little People out of our house. We just think they and we will enjoy life more if they learn to appreciate good music with their parents early on. Who can resist the charm of a whole family singing along to the White Stripes "Hotel Yorba" or a kid walking along singing "Monkey Man " by Toots and the Maytals. Yes, dammit, we want our kids to be cool. But more than that, we want them to share our love of music. So we've been putting together CDs of songs that we love, that are easy to sing along to, whose lyrics are clearly deciferable and not too heavy on the cursewords (though we might accidentally let one slip in every once in a while and use it as a teaching moment). SO here's what we do for you: We program an internet radio station you can access any time of the day or night. We've got a blog here where we review stuff that people send us and just generally opine about music. We've got a newsletter that goes out occasionally and you can subscribe to that here. And we sell CDs and other stuff here on the site that we think are just fantastic.
